Three students and a teacher from the Masin Secondary School participated in the 'High School Students Summit on World Tsunami Awareness Day' held in Sendai, Tohoku Region, Japan. The international programme aims to deepen understanding of the history of the tsunamis in Japan and explore efforts in Disaster Risk Reduction.
The programme also seeks to enhance global awareness of tsunami threats and other natural hazards. In addition, the programme focuses on developing youth leadership, particularly in areas of preparedness and community resilience. The students will also have the chance to participate in educational visits to disaster-mitigation sites and locations affected by past tsunami events.
